Setting New Works

I love to make new work.  I am always making new work; on myself, on dancers, in my head, even on paper.

If you want me to make a new work on your company, there are several different ways that we can work together.  I will work from my own ideas and/or themes, or I will enjoy working with yours.  All I need to know is the number of dancers and their level of training, but if you would like to realize a particular vision, that's okay too.

I am also willing to work from the improvised movement of you and your dancers, structuring a work around the ways you like to move.  This type of piece is set in a workshop environment.

I will structure a work using chance operations and dancer choices.  This is for the very adventurous, but can be quite fun, and keeps the piece fresh and alive no matter how many times it is performed.

I work well in collaboration with set designers, artists, composers, and costume designers.  I will set a piece to music, spoken word, silence, noise, or any other thing that might be dreamed up.  I am a fearless movement adventurer.

Costume, lighting, set, and sound are rich elements of performance, but to me, dance is about movement; exciting, original movement that transcends what the dancers are wearing or what the audience is hearing.  The work I create will be thoughtful, original, exciting, and fun to perform.
